Intramural flag football is finally off and running with more than 203 teams signed up to play Sunday- Thursday. We exceeded our goal of getting at least 200 teams and are motivated to get even more teams signed up next semester. Usually flag football is intramurals biggest turnout and we are excited to see who will be crowned flag football champions. Whether it is the recreational or competitive champions, whoever wins the championship will have a long road ahead of them to make it to the finals with such a great number of teams.

This fall I will be joining a Flag Football team. I will be on a team with the marketing team here at UREC. This will be my first time playing since it was a requirement in 7th grade PE. Back then it was not terribly fun only because I was the designated “Stand to the Side” position. I am looking forward to playing again and this time in a more competitive environment.
While my football skills are not the best, I do look forward to playing on my first Intramural team besides volleyball. When deciding to play, I had to put aside my potential embarrassment at my lack of football skills and adjust my mentality to one of playing just to have fun. Now that I have shifted my mentality, I am ready to get on the field.
It will be a great way to stay active as the fall progresses as well as get to know my co-workers better. The schedule of games comes out soon and I will write more as the season gets going. Stay tuned for the UREC Marketing Flag Football updates!

A great bonding idea was brought to the table during one of our University Recreation Marketing staff meetings; assembling a Flag Football team. Flag football is the most popular intramural sport at Washington State University. What better way to bond with your fellow staff members?
Besides the opportunity to bond with co-workers Flag Football reminds me of the days back in elementary school. Remember when physical education was an essential piece of the day, now I get to couple that along with competition!
Around the office the excitement is building. Plus, there’s an opportunity to win a Cougar Jytte ® Beanie if you are a team manager! I even modeled the beanie, check it out!
