The award-winning Student Recreation Center (SRC) boasts over 200 pieces of cardio and weight equipment, 7 courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton, a 31-foot high climbing wall with bouldering wall, roller hockey, indoor soccer, floor hockey and inline skating, 4 racquetball courts, 5-lane lap pool, leisure pool, 53-person spa, activity rooms, elevated 4-lane running/walking track, and more. Over 3,000 students use the facility each day and over 80% of students access the facility each semester.

SRC Natorium:

The SRC Natatorium includes a 5-lane, 25-yard pool with an attached leisure pool designed for water basketball and water volleyball. The spa with recirculating waterfall can accommodate up to 53 people. The Natatorium is accessible through the locker rooms and the pool terrace/sun deck will be open weather permitting.

Gibb Pool
Gibb Pool

Gibb Pool, built in 1969, is located on the lower level of the Physical Education Building (PEB). It is an eight-lane, 25-yard L-shaped pool with a 14-foot deep area. Gibb pool is WSU's main competitive pool and is home to the WSU Women's Swim Team, Masters Swimming, Water Polo Club, Lifeguard Training, and various academic classes.

  • Gibb Pool is open for lap swimming for members of the Faculty/Staff Fitness Program, as well as participants in our Masters Swimming Program. Smith Pool
Smith Pool

Located in Smith Gym, Smith Pool first opened in 1936. This four lane, 25-yard pool is kept at 85 degrees and is host to many different aquatic classes such as Aqua Fit, Senior Water Aerobics, Adult, Parent/Child, and Preschool Swim Lessons, ORC Kayaking Courses, and the Women Only Swim Program.

Smith Pool Hours
  • Smith Pool is host to University Recreation's Women's Only Open Swim. Open swim time is available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Smith Pool fitness swimming is open to members of the Faculty/Staff Fitness program. Please visit the Faculty/Staff Fitness Program Website for more information. It is also available for reservation for groups and outside users. Please contact urec.scheduling@wsu.edu for more information.

University Recreation offers a 31-foot high climbing wall and a bouldering wall adjacent to court 7 in the back of the Student Recreation Center. Check out our hours below:

SRC Backyard

SRC Backyard

The SRC Backyard offers students the opportunity to get outside and play. The Backyard consists of three full outdoor basketball courts and four sand volleyball courts, and stays open, weather permitting, until 10:00 p.m. each evening. The Backyard is fully-lighted, and equipment is available to check out inside the SRC for no charge! New indoor restroom facilities available.

Slackline Course

Slackline Course

New to WSU is a Slackline Course located in the SRC Backyard.  Six poles will provide provide beginners and experts various slackline lengths ranging from 14 feet to 60 feet and the chance to work on their slackline skills.  Bring your own slackline or check one out at the SRC Service Counter located inside the building.  The slackline is open anytime the SRC Backyard is open

Guidelines

  • Participants will use the Slackline Course at their own risk
  • Participants will set up their own Slacklines; Facility Managers may assist participants if needed
  • Height Lines: Green=Beginner, Blue=Intermediate, Black=Advanced
  • Shorter distances between the poles are recommended for beginners

Policies

  • No Running
  • No Flips
  • No Socks; Users should wear shoes or go barefoot
  • No 60' line placed closest to the building
  • No lines shall be set above the Black Advanced line

Valley Road Playfields

Valley Road Playfield is an outdoor field turf facility that is operated by University Recreation for Intramural Sport and Sport Club Federation participation. This facility is available for open use but can also be scheduled for use by campus groups through University Recreation Scheduling. A specific University Recreation policy indicates that pets are prohibited from the facility and is strongly enforced. Restroom and field lighting accommodations are available during University Recreation use as well as other scheduled activities. This field has been identified as a high priority for upgrades including the installation of artificial turf for year round use. Click here to find out more information.

Grimes Way Turf Playfield

Grimes Way Turf Playfield is an outdoor field turf facility that is operated by University Recreation for Sport Club Federation participation. This facility is available for open recreation on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00-5:00 p.m. Please visit our Playfields Hour webpage for field closures. Basic sport equipment is available for checkout with your Cougar Card. Grimes Way can also be scheduled for use by campus groups through University Recreation Scheduling. Field lighting accommodations are available during University Recreation use as well as other scheduled activities. A specific University Recreation policy indicates that pets are prohibited from the facility and is strongly enforced.

South Fairway Playfields

South Fairway Playfield is an outdoor grass facility that is operated by University Recreation for Intramural Sport and Sport Club Federation participation. This facility is not available for open use but can be scheduled for use by campus groups through University Recreation Scheduling. A specific University Recreation policy indicates that pets are prohibited from the facility and is strongly enforced. Restroom and field lighting accommodations are available during University Recreation use as well as other scheduled activities.

Rogers-Orton Playfield

Rogers-Orton Playfield is an outdoor grass facility that is operated by University Recreation for Sport Club Federation participation. This facility is available for open use and can also be scheduled for use by campus groups through University Recreation Scheduling.  A specific University Recreation policy indicates that pets are prohibited from the facility and is strongly enforced.

Martin Stadium

Martin Stadium is an outdoor field turf facility that is shared between University Recreation, Athletics, and Physical Education. University Recreation utilizes Martin Stadium for Intramural Sports and the Sport Club Federation for various leagues, competitions and practices throughout the school year. Due to the playing surface, cleated shoes are strongly recommended for active play. This facility is not available for open use but can be scheduled for campus groups through University Recreation scheduling.

Rogers Field

Rogers Field is an outdoor field turf facility that is operated by the Washington State University Athletic Department. University Recreation utilizes Rogers field solely for the purpose of Intramural Sports and the Sport Club Federation for various leagues, competitions and practices throughout the school year. Due to the playing surface, cleated shoes are strongly recommended during Sport Club Federation activities and Intramural Sports participation. This facility is not available for open use or scheduling for campus groups.

Shared Facilities (PE Building, Smith Gym, Hollingbery Field House, Bohler Gym)

University Recreation utilizes the Shared Facilities: Smith Gym, the Physical Education Building, Bohler Gym and the Field House. Basketball courts, racquetball/squash courts, mat rooms and indoor tennis courts are activity areas in the Shared Facilities. These facilities are located on Colorado Street. If you would like to schedule a space in one of these facilities, please visit WSU scheduling.

Summer PEB Racquetball/Squash Court schedule: Monday-Thursday 5pm-9pm. Please visit the Faculty/Staff Fitness Program for Membership Options if you would like to utilize the PEB Racquetball/Squash Courts from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Tennis Courts

Outdoor Tennis Courts

The Washington State University Outdoor Tennis Courts opened in Summer 2007. The courts are located on North Fairway Road, down the hill from the Student Recreation Center. Courts are available on a first come first serve basis with lighting available until 11:00 p.m. Tennis racquets can be checked out at the SRC Service Desk.

  • Closed Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday and during Holiday Weekends

Faculty/Staff Fitness Program - Members of the Faculty/Staff Fitness Program may utilize the Hollingbery Fieldhouse Tennis Courts from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.  Interested individuals can find membership information here: http://facultystafffitness.wsu.edu/

Parking

All WSU parking permits are accepted in the outdoor tennis court parking lot. Hourly pay and display permits are also available in the parking lot.
